On July 16th, at 18h45, 170 passengers in the flight VN319 from Narita Airport (Tokyo, Japan) landed in the Danang International Airport. This is the first direct flight of Vietnam Airlines which took off at 15h25 (Tokyo time) from Narita to Danang.

It is scheduled that the carrier will operate four flights per week on the route, utilising an Airbus A321.

According to Mr. Tran Chi Cuong - deputy director of Danang Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism, the opening of new air route connecting Da Nang International Airport with Tokyo’s Narita Airport is an enormous effort of Nariata Airlines, Vietnam Airlines and the functional departments. He also stated that Danang was a safe, attractive and friendly destination for tourists.

Earlier, on July 1st , the route connecting Hanoi Airport with Haneda Airport officially operated seven flights per week. The operation of the Hanoi - Haneda (Tokyo) flights in parallel to the operation of the Danang – Narita (Tokyo) flights will help to increase the number of direct air routes, satisfy the needs of passengers due to reasonable time and connect effectively with the Japanese internal flight. Meanwhile, the direct Danang – Narita flights will give tourists many new choices for the trips to the Central Vietnam.

It is known that Narita Airport is the international airport in the East of Tokyo. Narita Airport serves most of the Japanese international flights and also the aeronautic connectivity between Asia and America. In 2012, the airport served more than 32,8 million passengers, including 29,6 million international passengers and more than 3,2 million internal passengers. This is also the second largest cargo airport in Japan and the third largest cargo airport in the world (reach nearly 2 million tons in 2012).
