Following recent approval from the Da Nang authorities, the Rong (Dragon) Bridge project is to be entered for the 2013 Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) competition.  The project’s Management Board has been asked to coordinate with the bridge’s designer, the Louis Berger Group Inc from the USA, to provide all the necessary documents for the competition.  All the costs of entering the competition will be borne by the American company.

The annual EEA competition is held each spring at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City, and is organised by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).  Its purpose is to honour member firms for their design achievements showing superior skills and ingenuity.

The Dragon Bridge

After being officially opened to traffic on 29 March, the Dragon Bridge has become one of Da Nang’s main tourist attractions, and one of the city’s symbols.  The bridge features the shape of a dragon flying towards the East Sea, and its head breathes fire and squirts water.  It is a bridge with unique aesthetic and creative characteristics, and it incorporates complex technologies.
